Greenwich Students’ Union is an inclusive charity, representing the interests of over 21,000 students at our three campuses in Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway, Kent. We have one goal, which is to provide the support and services for our students to become their best at Greenwich and beyond.
We make this goal a reality by unapologetically striving for equity in all that we do, empowering our students to maximize their time at university, building high-quality social activities and spaces and providing advice for when things do not go to plan.
We have undertaken a significant and transformative change programme over the last few years by working with our members to make our governance and democracy more accessible as well as developing the quality and scope of our services and our communication methods. We are proud to have recently been awarded Quality Students’ Union status.
We have established and enhanced the physical offer of both membership services and commercial operations at all three of our campuses in Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway. These are complemented by our online spaces ensuring that no student is left behind in our desire to represent them.
Our new strategy, GSU Plan 2026, sets out the actions that will take us into our next phase of development to ensure our members are able to shape future opportunities and services, whilst working in partnership with our University.
As CEO you will lead this plan and ensure that Greenwich Students’ Union is able to evolve our offer for the members of today and future generations.
We want our Chief Executive to have an equitable leadership style, a collaborative approach to partnership working and the courage to lead us through future challenges.
Visible, empowering and personable leadership is important to us, and whilst you can be based at any of our campuses it is important to us that you regularly visit all of them. We are open to providing a relocation package to help enable this.
We operate a diverse portfolio with a mix of free at the point of use charitable services and over £1m of commercial operations. You do not need to have expertise in all areas of our operations, but a good level of financial literacy and budget management will be essential.
We are proud that we have an inclusive organisation with high levels of diversity in our staff teams. We welcome applications from all candidates, especially from people traditionally underrepresented in leadership.
