Leap Confronting Conflict is a youth charity with over 30 years’ experience of creating highly experiential training programmes in conflict navigation. Our vision is to have a society where we all navigate conflict effectively, and we aim to give young people and the adults in their lives the skills to do so. Through our training, we provide the tools to foster healthy relationships, make positive decisions and inspire self-growth. We work with young people aged 10-25 who are challenged by conflict situations, and we support the adults who interact with them to practice effective conflict navigation. We have a national footprint (with a major focus on Greater London) and our work is well-established and recognised across the youth and charity sectors for its impact, by key stakeholders such as The Tavistock Institute and the London Violence Reduction Unit.
We’re at a really exciting point in our journey: as we respond to and incorporate learnings from the past few years into our organisational culture and practice, finalise our core narrative and work to position ourselves as industry leaders in conflict navigation, our new Chief Executive will play a key role in consolidating our achievements and shaping our next five-year strategy. We’re looking for someone who brings an unusual blend of personal insight, emotional intelligence, professional excellence, and a public commitment to social change. You’re likely to have extensive experience of working with young people in community-based settings, and will have first-hand understanding of how we can amplify our impact while maintaining that precious human connection. You will have proven experience of leading the creation and delivery of successful and impact-driven organisational strategies. You may have overseen the development of hybrid or digital service delivery models, which will allow us to multiply our reach and spark new conversations with the right people; and you’ll also need a good working knowledge of income generation, relationship building and influencing at the highest levels. Strong candidates will also bring experience of organisational change, and a solid understanding of how to unite teams and people with a common vision, to motivate collaboration across the board to achieve a shared goal.
Leap is committed to enhancing diversity and inclusion by recognising, respecting, and valuing different identities, perspectives and backgrounds, and promoting equality for all employees, participants, trustees, freelance trainers, volunteers and visitors. Our new Chief Executive will share and lead on this commitment, and model the change that it requires. We are also extremely proud to support the Open to All campaign, which encourages charities to only ask for a degree when completely necessary. We recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We have adopted The Halo Code, the UK’s first Black hair code, and we are proud to be a Living Wage Employer.
