As one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers, Barts Health is embarking on an era defining period of change through our collaboration with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. Our new Group will be one of Europe’s largest healthcare providers, and as Chief Executive of Newham Hospital and Member of the Group Executive, you will play a significant role in securing our successful future.
A busy district general hospital, we provide the diverse and fast growing population of Newham and the surrounding areas with a full range of services including an A&E department, a dedicated stroke unit, one of the largest maternity units in the UK, and our state-of-the-art Rainbow Centre providing services to children and young people. Newham Hospital is also home to the Gateway Surgical Centre, which delivers some of the most innovative and modern diagnostic and surgical facilities available globally. We are on a sustained and ambitious journey of improvement, and while our CQC rating of ‘requires improvement’, offers promising signs of encouragement with a Good rating for Urgent and Emergency Services, Surgery, and Services for children and young people, we know there is still much to do, for instance within maternity care.
The role we play outside of the four walls of the hospital is critical, and we believe in the importance of operating as an anchor institution in our community.
As Chief Executive Officer for Newham Hospital you will report to the newly appointed Group Chief Executive, serve as a member of the Group Executive and provide leadership to the Hospital Executive Team. You will take forward our workforce and strategy, delivering on our vision for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to the people of East London and beyond. Alongside providing visible and inclusive leadership to the hospitals, you will play a corporate role across our group and contribute to the wider place based system leadership across the London Borough of Newham, developing relationships with local leaders.
We are searching for a talented and ambitious leader to join us. You will be committed to valuing our differences and fully advocating, cultivating and supporting an inclusive working environment and living by our WeCare values. You will utilise strategic vision to articulate a compelling vision for our exciting new era, empowering our committed and talented staff on this journey. You are likely to be an aspirant Chief Executive with a track record of success in an NHS Board level role, showcasing how you have previously led transformational change, increased staff engagement and delivered operational and financial performance in a complex healthcare setting.
Whether your experience has been gained in medical, clinical, operational, corporate or system leadership, if your ambition matches ours, we would like to hear from you.
