Lead the development of the National Institute of Teaching as its CEO and transform teacher and school leadership development across the English education system.
At the National Institute of Teaching, we will combine the ‘golden thread’ of teacher qualifications with our own research to build a community of teachers who can themselves contribute to teacher development in the future. To do this, we need to make sure that the very best teacher and leader development is accessible to every teacher and leader in every school. By doing so we will leverage the untapped potential in the system to drive better outcomes for children across our school system.
Our CEO will be the lead advocate and public face of the National Institute of Teaching, championing our organisation, our research and the teachers and leaders who choose to learn and develop through us, and the profession as a whole. This is a high-profile and partnership-focused executive role, leading the start-up and scale-up of a national organisation that serves to influence positive change through being authentically school-led.
The CEO will drive the development of the National Institute of Teaching across our four campuses and with our partners and Associate Colleges. Through an expert senior team, the CEO will oversee the progress and growth of three directorates overseeing curriculum and programme development, world-class primary research and operations including finance, HR, technology, and communications.
Our CEO must be well connected into the education system and have a proven track record in order to for us to lead an authentic school-led organisation. As a research-informed teacher training and professional development organisation, working nationally, it is essential that our CEO has a deep understanding of both the teacher training sector and the English education system, more broadly.
With partnership at the heart of our approach, and with an anticipated network of approximately 10,000 schools, our CEO will need to bring significant experience in devising, developing, and sustaining successful strategic relationships with key allies and partners, including central government, schools, and local authorities, in order for us to maximise networks and opportunities available to us.
This is a wonderful, and potentially once-in-a-lifetime, opportunity to build organisational culture from the ground up, through the recruitment and development of expert talent, and the design of systems and structures which result in highly positive societal and educational outcomes for children.
The National Institute of Teaching actively encourages applications from under-represented groups and candidates based outside of the London region. As we build our organisation, we will aim to ensure it is fully reflective of the society we serve.
