As Petra Biberbach steps down after 17 years of service, we are seeking an exceptional leader to guide the organisation into the future. This is a key moment for the planning system and for community participation in Scotland. We are at the forefront of responding to the new opportunities and challenges brought by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019.
As Chief Executive, you will have the chance to bring your leadership, your creativity and your energy to carve out new ways of operating so that we can continue to help individuals and communities across Scotland shape the future of their places.
PAS (Planning Aid Scotland) is Scotland’s leading place and active citizenship charity. Over the last three decades we have supported a planning system that is inclusive, positive and innovative, where individuals and communities have the opportunity to shape the future of their place. We help individuals and community groups to get involved in the planning system in an impartial, open and inclusive way.
We take a facilitation-based approach, striving to ensure that all voices are heard, and with outcomes agreed by all. We are a volunteer-led organisation supported by a network of over 400 specialist volunteers from across the built environment sector.
Our public Advice Service offers a free, impartial and confidential planning advice service, provided by our specialist volunteers, all of whom are chartered planners.
We provide skills, engagement and facilitation training and support for community groups, planners, elected members and public bodies, as well as to seldom-heard groups who often cannot readily engage in the planning system, including children and young people. We support community organisations to develop and deliver their own aspirations through local place plans.
