The role:

Chief Executive Officer

Salary: Up to £74,238, full time equivalent subject to skills and experience.

Hours: Full time

Location: North of England, office based to be confirmed on appointment. Currently Remote working (temporarily due to COVID-19)

Adoption Matters is a registered children’s charity and one of the largest voluntary adoption agencies in the UK. We recruit, train and support individuals and families as adopters and offer them ongoing support and training for as long as they need it. We also provide support to birth families and adopted adults. We are the ONLY adoption agency in the North of England to have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the last four consecutive inspections. We are a dynamic, well established and outstanding organisation with a mission.

What we are looking for:

Our current CEO, Norman Goodwin, CBE, who has been our outstandingly successful leader for 29 years, is planning to retire in late 2021; and this has created a vacancy for a new leader.

The CEO will be responsible for leading Adoption Matters in delivering the strategic vision of the agency; and to sustain the values, ethos and service quality to which it is committed.

The person we are seeking should share our passion for meeting the long-term needs of vulnerable children and young people and for supporting their new families through adoption.

That person will have a strong track record of shaping and delivering a clear vision through senior leadership, partnership working and effective business and financial management in the voluntary, public or related private sector

Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an inspiring, collaborative, dynamic and creative leader; with a proven track record of strategic leadership and skills. You will have experience as a CEO or in general management with leadership, a minimum of 5 years’ experience and demonstrable ability to successfully manage and profitably develop a charity, private company or other organisation.A strong educational background to degree level and a professional qualification in business/social work or a related area is required.
