Age UK York is looking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking leader who is passionate about supporting older people to make the most of later life, and capable of delivering change, developing and sustaining high quality services which make a positive difference to the lives of older people across York.
Age UK York is an independent registered charity and Age UK brand partner with an annual turnover of over £1.5 million. We have faced some considerable challenges over the past two years and are still dealing with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our clients and services. The new CEO will work with and be supported by a small Board of Trustees in shaping the charity’s strategy and leading on its implementation.
We are looking for someone who shares our values and who can work with the trustees, staff, volunteers, and the people who use our services to build upon what the charity has achieved over the past fifty years and determine an ambitious and sustainable strategy for the future. A charity background is desirable although not essential – but you should have significant experience of leadership and management in a relevant organisation, a track record in both service development and effective campaigning, strong strategic planning and financial management skills, the ability to balance impact with financial sustainability, and also be an excellent communicator able to lead and motivate our team of 100 staff and 200 volunteers.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of the changing needs of older people and an awareness of the current local and national issues affecting them, an aptitude for collaborative working, and the ability to influence key stakeholders and policy-making, developing strong partnerships with statutory, voluntary and commercial organisations in the city.
Closing date for applications is 5.00 p.m. on Friday 7th January 2022.
Interviews will be held in York on Friday 21st January 2022
