West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust

Salary: L26 to L30 (£78,025 – £86,061) – Full Time, Full Year

Do you know when you see an opportunity that is so rare that no matter how happy you are in your current job, you know you have to apply? This is it. We are West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust and we are looking for someone as rare as this opportunity.

We are the Teaching School Hub for Cumbria but we are actually building an unrivalled training institute and so this opportunity has arisen to lead our “One Cumbria” Hub. It’s a significant role as you can imagine and so Trustees are looking to appoint at the level of and in to the role a Deputy Chief Executive Officer to work with the CEO.

West Lakes is an established and growing Multi Academy Trust, working really closely together as a group of schools in west Cumbria to change lives through learning. We are successful but, for the children’s sakes, we must relentlessly pursue ways to improve outcomes yet further and we do this in a dynamic and innovation-led working environment. This rare opportunity is a chance to be part of our enormously supportive and tightly-knit executive team. You’ll be part of a forward thinking school community and trust in the perfect location between The Lakes, the fells and the sea.

You will be the Director of our Teaching School Hub and will work with our school leaders and their Governing Boards to ensure that the Hub is founded on the credibility of exceptional academy performance.

How to tackle that? As Hub Director you will build a collaborative model of systemic training that energises a countywide professional dissatisfaction in our craft because no matter how good we are we will all remain utterly convinced we can be better.

The aim? That children in Cumbria attend schools that are academically obsessed with delivering the pinnacle of teaching and learning, as though we invented it. It will not matter where they live, they will have the very best schools right there in their own community and under the expert guidance of academically brilliant adults our children will be learning the powerful knowledge, skills, attitudes and values they need to thrive and shape their world.

We aren’t looking for someone who wants to leave where they are. We’re looking for someone who loves what they do but loves the potential of this even more. Simply being ambitious for children is not enough; we want someone who is ambitious for the adults who work with them. You will need to show you have a record of successful school improvement through a professional development-led culture, preferably in the Teaching School arena, with proven experience of very broad stakeholder relationships.

West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust is wholly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this responsibility. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure with regulated activity via the Disclosure and Barring Service. West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust want to ensure that all employees, future employees and applicants are treated equally regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, maternity, race, religion and belief, sex and sexual orientation.
