Chief Executive Officer Full Time

Oxford Food Hub is a fantastic charity, at the centre of surplus food redistribution in Oxfordshire.

Now in our 12th year, we have grown year on year, and in 2020 we supplied over 600 tons of produce, which we collected free of charge from retailers, wholesalers and caterers and delivered to over 150 local charities and community groups in Oxfordshire. This translates into more than £1.5m worth of food which can be brought back into the food chain, the equivalent of around 20,000 meals a week. By keeping food out of landfill we save around five tons of CO2 every day.

Everyone wins – we reduce food waste going into landfill and provide tasty fresh produce to those in need.

Our mission is to:

• Reduce food waste: encourage recycling and the use of surplus

• Work with others to tackle food poverty: in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas through support and services

• Provide education and training: in nutrition, food and environmental issues

We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer to lead the charity into the next stage of growth, alongside our dedicated team of 3 staff, diverse and committed board of trustees and one of our strongest assets, our 120-strong team of loyal and committed volunteers.

We are lucky enough to have sufficient funds to enable us to pursue some exciting growth plans in 2022 and beyond.

Reporting to The OFH Chair of Trustees, the OFH CEO is responsible for the management and delivery of the mission of the OFH, promoting respect, integrity, compassion, and community that the OFH has come to embody.

The qualities that our CEO will demonstrate are:

• Commitment – Commitment to the ethos, mission, and values of OFH. Knowledge and understanding of Charities and Charity Regulation would be helpful.

• Leadership – Strong track record of senior leadership and successful operational, financial and people management. Knowledge and experience of fundraising would be an asset.

• Strategy – Strategic insight and strong operational capability – experience of developing and executing a strategy to realise stated objectives. An ability to operationalise a strategic vision is a must.

• Organisation – Excellent record of managing a complex and fast moving operational organisation. Knowledge and understanding of food waste and environmental issues would be ideal.

• Hands-on – This small dynamic team needs a CEO who is willing to occasionally roll up their sleeves and help support the community. A full driving licence is helpful.

• Resilient – Able to respond to changes and challenges positively, motivating the team to achieve results, with high levels of personal drive and energy

• Communication – Excellent communicator that works effectively and builds strong relationships with all stakeholders. Strong ambassadorial and networking skills and highly developed relationship building skills. Proven experience as an effective negotiator with stakeholders

• Inclusive – Creates a safe and inclusive environment for all volunteers, stakeholders, and employees to be part of

• Innovative – Seeks out new ways to grow and develop OFH for success and take this exceptional charity forward to the next chapter
